“Anything ardently desired, sincerely believed in, enthusiastically acted upon, vividly imagined will inevitable come to past”. Paul Meyers
The morning broke; a new life bounced its way into history. It was the dawn of a new day which seventeen plus years later would profoundly impact the teaching profession in Antigua/ Barbuda. As a girl Jesseca, Alicia Lewis had carved her path, as this young girl grew she developed into a graceful, diligent young adult who from the onset knew she would impact the lives of children in her society. Perhaps it was her father’s ambition which she gleefully eyed, maybe it was her father’s dedication and commitment that she had cheerily admired which has fashioned and fostered her own aspirations. Upon completing secondary school, the window of the teaching profession swung opened and beckoned her.
Miss Lewis began her teaching profession on October 16th 1987 at the Willikies Primary school. For the academic year 1997/98 she continued her teaching sojourn at the Parham Primary School. As the turn of the century rolled in, she rolled out of Parham Primary and into Pares Primary where she serves as the Grade 3 teacher. Miss Lewis was awarded teacher of the year 2010/2011 at Pares Primary. The Ministry of Education will award her this year (2013) for her service of over 25 years in the teaching profession
She is the proud mom of one son Ahmed and one daughter Loscinhe. She is of the opinion that teaching is a noble profession. It is a sacrificial one. It is a challenging one. Hence she concludes as did the Apostle Paul “The race is not for the swift but for those who endure to the end”. God has been her light and her salvation; He has provided her with grace, tolerance, strength, love, guidance and most of all the gift of teaching and for this she is truly thankful.
